Explaining how Limbo works
When explaining Limbo to others it's important to try to keep it as simple as possible.
Limbo has four basic elements behind it:
Insight: You learn how your body reacts
Glucose is your body’s preferred energy source, but too much of it at once from eating causes your body to store it as fat. The blood glucose monitor measures your blood glucose levels and sends this to the Limbo app, which then shows you how food, rest and exercise affect your body’s energy system.
The app shows you which foods cause your glucose levels to rise rapidly, triggering the storage response which is how you gain weight.
By managing our blood glucose levels within the range in the app we can put our bodies into a fat burning zone where it needs to convert fat back into glucose for energy. This is how we lose weight.
We try to stay in that zone all day by making food and activity choices that keep us there, burning fat all the time.
Knowledge: You learn why it reacts like this
All of the data from our wearables and scales is sent back to Limbo, where a combination of AI and our analyst team look at your data and send you feedback on your food, rest and exercise choices through the day. Through this feedback, and along with content that the Limbo team produces, you’ll learn why your body is responding the way that it is and what choices to make in the future.
By understanding the impact of choices, and with some initial guidance, you can learn how to make better ones.
Habits: You learn better habits
As you keep using Limbo you’ll receive nudges to help steer your progress, to guide to towards success. You’ll repeatedly do certain things, and make certain choices, over and over again. You’ll choose to avoid certain foods, cut down on some, and eat more of others.
As you repeat these choices you’ll build them into your everyday life as habits. Once they’re habits, you won’t have to think about them, they will naturally happen. At this point you’ll naturally be making good choices to manage your weight.
Accountability: You learn take back control
The glucose monitor and app provide something that very few weight loss apps can - immediate accountability. You can’t sneak a doughnut and make up for it later, it immediately impacts your body. All of your choices are immediately visible to Limbo, there’s no hiding.
Initially you learn to be accountable to Limbo, but as your habits form and you progress towards your goal you learn to become accountable to yourself. This accountability stops bad habits from forming again and reinforces the good habits that you have learned.
