With this commitment and spending a lot of time driving his children around, his life has become quite sedentary, he put on weight and he realised he needed to make some changes.

In October 2022, he started using Limbo to understand and get control of his blood glucose – the body's energy system.

With this system and new knowledge he then lost over 14kg in 3.5 months, with a full reset of his habits, to keep the weight off going forward.

Eric describes his life in Limbo:

Eric's weight loss journey

Before Limbo – 108kg

A sedentary lifestyle

51 year old Eric has been working remotely for three years. His weight has fluctuated in the past but now he has a very sedentary lifestyle so the weight is harder to shift.

The Dad taxi service

From home to car and back again

“I’m going from going from work to the car and then back to work, I feel that recognising that has probably been the trigger to get me to start thinking more about myself.”

A history of family illness

Heart disease is a concern

Eric is aware of a family history of heart disease as his Dad died when he was quite young. This is another factor in his decision to change his habits.

Oct 2022 – Eric starts Limbo

Choices are already changing

Eric is just one week into his Limbo journey and is already noticing how the nudges and feedback are impacting his choices. He’s not feeling he shouldn’t eat but is making conscious decisions about what to eat.

Learning journey

Planning a change for life

“I am doing Limbo because I want to learn about how foods react in my body. I want to find how to engage with food and exercise. I want to build a more sustainable routine not just for three months but for life.”

Nov 2022 – after one month, already more energetic

Weight is steadily dropping

Eric is feeling more focussed and energetic. He is watching his weight fall. He has also learnt a lot about how his body reacts to certain foods including, even, different brands of the same product. He is also enjoying finding adaptions for family meals. He is also walking regularly, which his dog is happy about.

Day 45 – 8.4kg lost

Seeing and feeling the changes

“I’m on day 45 and I've lost just over eight and a half kilos, which I'm thrilled with. I’m generally feeling feeling good about myself and have had lots of compliments from various different people who are noticing the subtle changes.”

Jan 2023 – 14kg lost

Seeing sustainable changes

Eric has adapted. His habits have changed and he is happy. He has a plan that he can live with and life is good.

“Life is still busy. It's not like the world has dramatically changed. I've got work to do and a family to look after but I'm feeling really good. There's a bounce in my step when I know that I've achieved so much."
